Pre-production

This is where all the planning and preparation takes place before you start to create you product

There are different types of pre-production needed for different types of media product but area one that spans them all is research (this includes audience research).



Production

This is the stage in which you make the product, each sector again has its own process.

Moving Image - recording footage
Audio - recording sound
Publishing - producing the product using publishing and image manipulation software
Websites - coding
Games - coding / building the game world and characters.


Post-production


This stage brings all the elements together to complete the product. This could include editing footage and adding in audio, proof reading, games testing.



Distribution

This is how the producers make their finished product available to to audiences through advertising and promotion.



Exhibition/consumption

This is where the audience finally view or interact with the product.
